This area of support is vast and wide. Parents come to me for help with bedtime routines, minimizing screen time, implementing chores, frequent meltdowns and more. It can be endlessly frustrating when your child doesn't follow directions. I can help customize a plan and facilitate conversations to help you move forward.
I am familiar with the IEP process both professionally and personally in my own family. I can help you understand what to expect in an IEP meeting, attend the meetings alongside you as an advocate, and help you decipher what the jargon means in layman's terms. I can also help you with ways to support your child's neurodivergence be it sensory processing, attention, executive functioning, speech and language, or something else to help bridge the gap so your child can learn and play most successfully.
Reading instruction used to be memorizing words; now it is matching letters and sounds. Math used to be computing and finding the right answer; now it is explaining your process, using various strategies, and answering in full sentences rather than with numbers. I can help you understand the angle your child's teacher is taking, the research and science behind the shifts, and how you can take what you know about these subjects and translate that to homework help.
I hear from parents all the time that they try to get in touch with their teacher or administrators and they are unsuccessful, frustrated, and left in the dark. When a teacher has a class of perhaps up to 30 students, it is hard to have consistent conversations with each family. I know this from the educator side and the parent side. I can create a plan for you to better communicate with your school contacts and get the information you need to support your child at home.
Reach out to me and we can figure out how I can meet your needs.
What a buzz word (phrase)! Every school year is important and preparation for the next grade is crucial. However, you likely have heard the jump from preK to K is massive. Some of the crucial readiness skills are centered around academics, but the majority of them are centered around communication and independence skills. We can come up with a school-year or summer plan to help your child be as successful as possible as they transition from play all day to more structured learning and instruction.

A great option if you need minimal support or want to test it out first before committing to a package
I work with families who are reflective and thoughtful. They want to break generational cycles and set their children up for academic and emotional success.
At the same time, they sometimes lose their patience when they've asked for shoes and socks to be put on for the 1000th time this morning. They are encouraging but often question if they are being overly involved or not enough. They are frequently overstimulated -- touched out or just tired from a long day. They struggle to be consistent day in and day out.
However, at the end of the day they are loving and responsible and always well-intentioned. They are doing the best with what they have in the season they are in.
Does that sound like you? Are you looking to improve in these areas?
